Drawing The HUMAN HEAD

This course is designed for beginners who want to learn how to confidently construct and draw the human head.

The course consists of 5 lessons, 2 hours each, held once a week. Every lesson combines a theoretical part with practical exercises, allowing you to immediately apply and reinforce what you have learned.

We will gradually move from basic construction and proportions to a complete portrait.

Course Start

First lesson: November 2 at 7:00 PM

The following lessons will take place once a week.

Lesson 1 — Proportions & Volume

We will study the basic proportions of the human head, its construction and cross-sections, and learn how to see the head as a three-dimensional form.

Practice:

Simple head sketches from different angles.

Lesson 2 — The Main Planes of the Head

We will study the main planes of the human head and learn how to recognize them in a portrait.

We will learn how to simplify the complex shapes of the face into simple, clear planes, without focusing on details. This approach helps us understand the structure and volume of the head and build a portrait more confidently.

Practice:

Constructing a portrait using simple planes, focusing on the overall structure and volume rather than facial details.

Lesson 3 — Facial Features

We will study the structure and proportions of the main facial features: eyes, nose, mouth and ears.

We will learn how to construct these features and understand their relationship to the overall structure of the head.

Practice:

Drawing individual facial features.

Lesson 4 — Light & Tone

We will learn how light describes the volume and structure of the head.

We will study the light source, major light and shadow masses, half-tone, reflected light and cast shadow.

Practice:

Creating tonal head studies.

Lesson 5 — Portrait & Individual Features

In the final lesson, we will bring everything together: proportions, construction, planes, facial features, light and tone.

We will also focus on the individual characteristics that make each face unique.

Practice:

Creating a detailed portrait of the human head using everything covered throughout the course.

The lessons are taught in English.

Full course — €150

You can also start with a single lesson for €30.

If you decide to continue after the first lesson, you can pay €120 for the remaining 4 lessons.

This allows you to try the course first and decide whether you would like to continue with the full programme.

Jenya has an academic art education and professional experience in drawing, illustration and visual arts.

Classes will be held in a cozy atmosphere with 5-6 participants. All materials are provided, but you are welcome to bring your favorite pencil ☺️
