RE:OBJECT workshop series

I invite you to look at familiar things and materials in a new way — to discover unexpected possibilities and turn something simple into something special.

RE:OBJECT is a series of special art workshops where we experiment with objects, found materials and different creative techniques to transform everyday things into unique pieces of art.

Each edition brings a new material, a new experiment and a new way to step outside the familiar.

What happens to decorative objects when we stop loving them? We put them away, forget about them or send them off to a flea market. But maybe they simply need a new story.

For the first RE:OBJECT workshop, we’ll reimagine tired and forgotten decorative objects and turn them into something new for your home.

Bring a plate, vase or flower pot that has lost its place in your interior, find something interesting at a flea market — or choose one of the objects we’ll have ready for you.

Using cut-outs from old magazines and books, we won’t simply decorate the surface. We’ll work with the object’s shape, patterns, character and traces of time. We’ll shift its meaning, combine unexpected images, continue existing lines and turn imperfections into part of a new story.

No artistic experience is needed. You don’t have to know how to draw or paint — all you need is a little imagination and the willingness to see things differently.

Workshop led by collage artist Katrin Anikina @worlds.compiler

During the workshop, we will:

• explore and study the objects;

• develop a composition and concept;

• create a collage on the chosen object;

• finish the piece with a protective varnish.

  
  

What can you bring? (If you want)

You can bring your own object that you’d like to give a second life to, for example:

• a decorative plate;

• a vase;

• a flower pot.

Important:

• the surface should be flat, smooth, clean and dry;

• please don’t bring objects that are too small — we’ll need enough space to work with the collage.

Don’t have your own object? No problem! We’ll prepare a small collection of interesting vintage and second-hand finds for you to choose from at the workshop.
